ZKTeco F18 Attendance Management & Access Controll
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
ZKTeco F18 Device: The attendance terminal itself.
Power Adapter: To power the device.
Ethernet Cable: For network connectivity.
Attendance Management Software: Please download the software for ZKBioTime.
Computer/Laptop: For software installation and configuration.
Basic Network Knowledge: Understanding of IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways.
Hardware Setup
Mounting the Device: Choose a suitable location for your ZKTeco F18. Ensure it's easily accessible for users and away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Securely mount the device using the provided mounting plate and screws.
Connecting Power: Connect the power adapter to the device and plug it into a power outlet. The device should power on.
Network Connection: Connect the power adapter to the device and plug it into a power outlet. Or if you prefer, connect the power to any two pairs of the RJ45 ethernet cable, 1,2,3,6. The device should turn on. If you not understand please see your setup vedio.
Device Configuration (via F18 Menu)
Once the device is powered on, you'll need to configure basic settings directly on the F18 terminal:
Access the Menu: Press the
Menukey on the F18. You might need to verify as an administrator (fingerprint or password) if one is already set up.Network Settings:
Navigate to
Comm. Settings(Communication Settings).Select
Ethernet.Configure the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway according to your network's specifications. Ensure the IP address is static and unique within your network to avoid conflicts. The default port number for ZKTeco devices is often
4370.
Date and Time:
Go to
System Settings>Date & Time.Set the correct date and time. This is crucial for accurate attendance records.
User Management (At fast go to your pc/laptop and follow our below instruction is "Software Installation and Configuration". Then follow this user Manager.):
Navigate to
User Mgt.(User Management) >New User.Register employees by assigning them a unique
User ID.Enroll their fingerprints, RFID cards, or set up passwords as required for verification.
You can also designate administrators who have access to the device's menu and settings.
Software Installation and Configuration
The software is essential for centralized management, report generation, and data synchronization.
Install the Software: Install your chosen attendance management software (e.g., ZKBio CVAccess, ZKBioTime) which you have already been asked to download. on your computer. Follow the software's installation wizard.
Add Device to Software:
Launch the software.
Look for an option like
Device Management,Add Device, orConnect Device.You'll typically need to enter the IP Address and Port Number of your ZKTeco F18 device.
Specify the device type (e.g., ZKTeco, Attendance).
Once connected, the software should be able to communicate with the F18. Some software automatically pulls data based on a defined import schedule (Source 1.5).
Configure Attendance Rules:
Within the software, set up your company's attendance rules. This includes defining:
Shifts: Create different work shifts with specific start and end times.
Holidays: Mark official holidays.
Leave Types: Define different types of leave (e.g., sick leave, annual leave).
Overtime Rules: If applicable.
Synchronize Data:
Ensure that the user data (employee IDs, names, fingerprints) from the device is synchronized with the software.
Regularly download attendance logs from the device to the software to ensure all punch data is captured.
